THIRD INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION

FOR CHILDREN’S CHOIR COMPOSITION

CORINFESTA

1.Associazione Emiliano Romagnola Cori (AERCO), in partnership with Fondazione C.G. Andreoli from Unione dei Comuni dell’Area Nord di Modena, announces the Third International Competition for children’s choir composition CORINFESTA with the aim of promoting the creation and the wide distribution of new children’s choir repertoire.

2.Participation is open to musicians from any country and any nationality.

3.The Competition is articulated in two Sections:


Section A: Educational – Pedagogical:
Towards Polyphony

  • a.two voices (SA), no divisi;
  • b.a cappella or with piano accompaniment and eventual small percussions or body percussions;
  • c.with a maximum duration of 3 minutes;
  • d.the text of the composition must be secular or sacred, in Italian (even dialectal) or in English or in Latin, Italian translation must be attached; if secular, the text must be suitable for the age of the singers (6-16 years old).
  • e.the difficulty and general setting of the piece should bear in mind the didactic-pedagogical context of a “school choir”.

Section B: Artistic: Many Voices, a School of Life

  • a.three voices (SSA), no divisi;
  • b.a cappella or with piano accompaniment and eventual small percussions or body percussions;
  • c.with a maximum duration of 4 minutes;
  • d.the text of the composition must be secular or sacred, in Italian (even dialectal) or in English or in Latin, Italian translation must be attached; if secular, the text must be suitable for the age of the singers (6-16 years old).

4.A maximum of two works per composer may be submitted (one for each Section or both for only one Section). Entries must arrive by the dedicated online form (https://goo.gl/YjeRuX) no later than the midnight of 31 August 2019.

5.The entry fee is 25 euro for every submitted work.

6.Every work must be submitted in PDF format. The composer’s name should not appear anywhere on the scores. A.E.R.CO. office will receive the entries, which will be sent to the jury members. The composer’s identity will be released from A.E.R.CO. office only after judging has taken place.

Each participant must include a document in DOC or RTF format with:

  • a.name, surname, address, phone number, e-mail address;
  • b.curriculum;
  • c.a statement declaring that the submitted score(s) is/are unpublished and that it/they has/have never been awarded prizes in previous contests;
  • d.source of the text (if existing);
  • e.the permission of use and publication for those texts eventually protected by the author, the publisher or whoever owns the rights;
  • f.suggestion for the performance (if needed).

7.The competition will be judge by a five-member jury consisting of choral conductors and composers. The judges’ decision is final.

8.The evaluation criteria will be:

  • a.relation between text and music (only for Section A);
  • b.global artistic impression.
  • c.performability: compositional attention to vocal and perceptive needs.

9.The following prizes will be assigned:

First place (one for each Section)

  • money prize of 1.000 Euros (one thousand Euros).
  • performance by the Choir Aurora (Fondazione C.G. Andreoli) during the tenth edition of CORINFESTA that will take place in Mirandola (MO) in May 2020.
  • performance as compulsory piece for the special category CORINFESTA at seventh Choral Competition Città di Riccione, edition 2020 (www.coroallegrenote.it);
  • publishing, with the permission by the composers, in the magazine FarCoro;
  • diploma.

Second place (one for each Section)

  • publishing, with the permission by the composers, in the magazine FarCoro;
  • diploma.

Third place (one for each Section)

  • publishing, with the permission by the composers, in the magazine FarCoro;
  • diploma.

For all the submitted music scores

  •   publication, with the authorization of the authors, on the website www.corinfesta.it;

10.The jury reserves the right to report other compositions in addition to the winners. Composers of reported compositions will receive a mention diploma.

11.Participation in the Competition implies full knowledge and acceptance of these regulations.
